BOYCOTT HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (HFCS)!!!
USE CORN ENERGY
TO POWER ENGINES, NOT TO FUEL OBESITY.
Using current technology, one bushel (56 pounds) of corn produced in the United States of America can be converted to either 2.8 gallons of ethanol or 33 pounds of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS).
Fuel-grade ethanol, when properly mixed with gasoline, will power American cars, RIGHT NOW, and reduce our use of gasoline TODAY.
Gasoline boycotts have not yet convinced our government that WE THE PEOPLE
have power over our money.
Gasoline boycotts have not yet convinced our government that WE THE PEOPLE want to
BRING OUR TROOPS HOME FROM IRAQ NOW.
Gasoline boycotts have not yet reduced American dependence on oil from the Middle East.
The average American consumes roughly 33 pounds of HFCS per year just in the form of soda pop (46 gallons on average). High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) contains 4 calories per gram, or about 1814 calories per pound, or 59,862 calories per 33 pounds. Thus, the empty calories from just soda pop are equivalent to about 17 pounds of fat per year! The same amount of corn used to produce this HFCS could instead be used to make about 2.8 gallons of ethanol.
Drinking just two 12-ounce cans of typical sweetened cola (around 150 calories each) per day for one year adds up to 109,500 extra calories, equal to about 31 pounds of fat. The same amount of corn needed to produce this HFCS could instead be used to make about 5 gallons of ethanol.Drinking just three 12-ounce cans of typical sweetened cola per day for one year adds up to 164,250 extra calories, equal to about 47 pounds of fat. The same amount of corn needed to produce this HFCS could instead be used to make about 7.5 gallons of ethanol.Drinking just six 12-ounce cans of typical sweetened cola per day for one year adds up to 328,500 extra calories, equal to about 94 pounds of fat!!! The same amount of corn needed to produce this HFCS could instead be used to make about 15 gallons of ethanol. Some of the MANY foods and drinks containing HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup):
sweetened soft drinks (soda pop)
sweetened fruit beverages (lemonade, fruit juice "cocktails")
sweetened canned fruits
sweetened jams and jellies
many cookies and candies
